StaticSmart ESD CARPET: How it Works
The unwanted presence of ESD in your workplace can result in failed audits, product
damage, even loss of business. And whether you're trying to avoid one of these
problems or simply looking to install a more attractive, higher quality surface
to impress visitors to your site, the flooring in your workplace setting is an
excellent place to begin the process of creating a static-protected environment
in which to work.
Julie Industries' low maintenance floors provide superior ESD protection by
forming a continuous ground plane throughout your entire facility. Whether it's
simple electronic assembly, messy solder paste stations or a steady hum of moving
forklifts, Julie Industries has an ESD floor system for every work area. By matching
different complimentary floor systems to different areas, Julie Industries offers
you a comprehensive approach that helps you select the flooring option that best
addresses your specific maintenance, appearance, installation and cost requirements.
ESD Carpet Flooring
With its patented FibreLink construction, StaticSmart ESD Carpet safely and effectively dissipates static at a controlled rate. The FibreLink conductive monofilament fiber is twisted into every tuft, creating multiple conductive contact points per square inch.
Static charges are ionized at the surface of the carpet and conducted directly to ground through a conductive thermoplastic backing and patented conductive adhesive system.
Low kV or Computer Grade carpet does NOT remove static charges
Regular antistatic carpets suppress static so you won't get a shock. To protect today's high speed computer equipment, static charges must be removed. Even if you don't feel it, staticy carpet can cause mulitple problems for networked offices, electronics manufacturing, home offices or anywhere electronics are handled or used. This includes telephone equipment and headsets as well!
The chart below shows the difference in static charges generated by "Low kV" antistatic carpet and StaticSmart ESD carpet used with and without wrist straps.
What is the difference between typical "anti-static" carpet and StaticSmart ESD carpet?
In typical "low KV" computer-grade carpet, the anti-static bi-component is insulated inside the yarn and lacks contact points, compromising performance. This type of yarn construction also relys on a topical anti-static coating, providing limited and temporary protection against damaging static. With StaticSmart ESD Carpet, the FiberLink™ conductive micro-filament fibers are woven into the yarn bundle, creating multiple contact points per square inch. These contact points provide a permanent, durable and effective path to ground, to quickly and efficiently remove static charges. Additionally, StaticSmart ESD Carpet tile never needs anti-static sprays, just a routine vacuum and spot stain removal is all the maintenance required for long-lasting, beautiful static control floors.
